Question hello, I started a my own diet about a week ago and I just wanted to know if its healthy or if there is anything I can do to improve it..
I'm 19, female, about 150lbs, and 5.6. I got calculations from nutritiondata.com that I need 2000 cals per day to maintain my weight.
I want to lose 1 lbs per week, so I put myself on a diet consisting of 1500 cals/day. I eat every 2hrs 250cals, 6 times/day. I try to included; whole grains, lean meats, fruits and vegetables, fibre and about 3 lires of water/day.
I take a multivitamin in the morning along with one omega
3,6,9 fatty acid pill and refrain from eating 2-3 hrs before bed. My goal is to lose about 20-30 lbs in 20-30 weeks.
Please tell me your honest opinion as a professional ? :)
thanks!
AnswerHello Maria,
It looks a picture perfect "healthy" diet -- but:
1. The 500-Cal. a day deficit would be better to get not only from calorie cut but 50-50 from eating less AND exercising more.
2. The calorie restriction on a "balanced" diet high in carbohydrates usually results in hunger/cravings that sabotage weight loss and require strong willpower. Cutting further on carbs can solve this problem (if you have one)
3. Do you do strength exercises? If not, your metabolism is likely to slow down due to muscle loss along with fat loss.
Hope it helps,
