QuestionAlmost every weight loss program requires drinking lots of water. My girlfriend wants to lose weight but hates drinking water. She says 1% milk works as well. I know skim milk is better, but she doesn't like it. Can she lose weight drinking 60oz milk instead of water daily?
AnswerMilk is made up primarily of water anyway so there should be little to no problem with her drinking milk rather than water. Although it would be recommended to have at least a couple glasses of water per day and not stick exclusively to milk alone.
However to set your mind at ease milk is classed as a low fat drink anyway (Even the full fat stuff as its only ever 3% fat maximum).
If you think of milk having roughly the same amount of calories as a fruit juice such as fresh orange juice - and much less sugar.
You also have the added benefit of milk being a complete protein - it has all the amino acids necessary for cell production, differentiation and repair.
Hope that helps
