QuestionHello, and thanks for the site.I have two questuins. I am 26, male, 5'7, about 150 pounds. My question is, is it bad to eat all day long? I work in a catering department and I find myself always hungry. Even about a half hour after lunch, I am ready to eat again. I snack all day as well, usually candy which I know is unhealthy. and even eat late at night. However, I do not seem to gain any weight. Are there certain types of metabolisms that can eat all day and not gain weiight, or am I destined to become obese? Also, is it possible to be addicted to sugar? For the past ten years or so I have eaten alot of sugar throughout the day and find myself craving it when I do not have it. How bad is it to eat sugar on a daily basis? Say, three candy bars. Thank you.
AnswerWhile eating frequently through the day in small portions is a good way to lose weight and to maintain the weight loss by keeping your metabolism at an elevated level, doing it with candy isn't the best way.
Being young and active helps burn those extra sugar calories but as you age and slow down a little, those calories will begin to creep onto your stomach and elsewhere. The sugar has no real nutritional value and only feeds a desire - the craving. Take a look at the labels on the candy bars and you'll see that you're eating a lot of fat and sugar. Not stuff that leads to staying thin and healthy.
Try snacking on nuts, seeds, fruits, and veggies. Working in a catering environment should make access to those foods easy. It's just a matter of making the proper choice.
Thanks for your question, Andres. I hope that my answer was helpful.
