QuestionHi my name is Alison and I am nearly 15. I have lost 15 Kg on a diet I invented which consists of eating beans(lima, great northern, kidney)and low carbohydrate. I currently weigh 63 Kg(140 lbs), and i'm 5 ft 7 inch. I am trying to lose about 4 more kilos, and they wont budge! I am on a very low carb diet, and nothing seems to be working. Please do not say that I should not lose anymore because my BMI is correct. I have done research, and I havent found anything that will shift those few extra kilos. Any ideas?
AnswerHi Alison,
Greetings and thanks for your question.
I admire your persistence. I get that you want to lose weight and I will give you my best suggestions.
a) please consider that the legume beans you listed are not low-carb. I would replace the beans with either meat/egg/poultry proteins or vegetables other than potatoes.
b) do not exercise more.. it will build muscle and increase your weight and will not support your goals overall.
c) invest in a Meditation CD on weight loss. My favorite one is sold by Centerpointe research (www.centerpointe.com)
d) if you like to move, I would suggest you enroll in a high energy dance class like a Hip-Hop class. Also, a group hiking class can be alot of fun....do the activities you love, and make them social.
I honor you for your persistence and clarity.
Of course, I feel that my best advice is offer the idea that you love yourself exactly the way you are.
Best,
Mary Jo
