QuestionHi Kimberly; I am a 47 yr old who now weighs 170 and who has been in premenopause for the last 2 yrs. During that time I have gained 25 unwanted pounds. I eat very healthy, I run, walk, lift weights...very active. I can't seem to loose the weight. Being in this stage in my life should I eat less/more carbs or more/less protein. I am sooooo frustrated and really want to loose this weight. Any suggestions would be more than appreciated.

AnswerMonique,
Without working with you on a personal basis it is impossible for me to tell you why you are not losing weight or why you are gaining. It could be calories, it could be too many carbs, it could be too much fat, etc... I don't know that without taking a personal look at your food intake. You don't need to eat less or more carbs. Just a moderate intake is fine. Same goes for protein. At this stage of your life it IS harder to lose weight and keep it off. You really need to watch your dietary intake and exercise on a regular basis.
I would suggest a check-up with your doctor if you haven't done that recently just to rule out any medical condition that could be causing your weight gain such as thyroid. As far as diet, I do offer online services and if you would like to work with me one-on-one I could be of more assistance to you. I do offer a service where I do a nutritional analysis on a food diary you would keep to see where you are at nutritionally and then I would make recommendations. That is only one of many services I offer. You can check out my web site at www.nutrifocus.net or email me at
