QuestionQUESTION: Hello,
In the last 2 months I can't stop eating! I am ALWAYS hungry and even when I'm not I'm eating! I just started college and i am now living with 4 roommates which is new to me. Also I am playing College basketball so I work out a lot! I know that means I have to eat more but I started eating TOO much and too much of the wrong things! Even though I am doing a lot of exercise I have gained almost 10 pounds!! Please help me stop eating, or help me eat the right things that will fill me up not make me hungry 5 minutes after.
Thanks
Amy
ANSWER: Hi Amy,
By the wrong foods what are you referring to? Also, are you eating cafeteria food or are you purchasing the majority of your own food? It's not uncommon for freshman to gain weight (if you've ever heard of the freshman 15). Get back to me on what you're currently eating and I will make some suggestions from there.

QUESTION: hi Mark,
here is an example...i ate this yesterday.
Breakfast:
apple and whole wheat toast with peanut butter
Snack:
cheese and crackers
Lunch:
fettucine alfredo
Snack:
chocolate bar
Supper:
Stir Fry (Chicken)
Snack:
pudding
Snack:
popcorn with butter and reeses peanut butter cup
I usually drink water through out the day, and maybe 1 diet pop or a cup of juice. I know the problem is more at night then during they day! I hope that explains better. Thank you
Amy
AnswerAmy,
That doesn't seem to be a lot of food to account for the weight gain especially since you're active. In fact that seems like a decent day, minus the popcorn and reeses cup. I would replace that meal with something a little healthier like your breakfast maybe minus the toast since you're getting carbs already from the apple.
The cheese and crackers, how many are you eating and what type of cheese? Spray can, or sliced cheese? Fat-free, low-fat or regular? How many crackers?
The chocolate bar snack could be a better choice too, maybe substitute it for a protein bar, where you can still get your chocolate fix but the added protein will support metabolism.
Hope that helps a little, get back to me and I can try to help further.
