QuestionHello,
I consume one tbsp of psyllium husk daily. How many grams of dietary fibre do I get?
Thank you
AnswerHello Apostolos!
I am greek also. Thank you for your excellent nutrition question. 1 tablespoon of crushed psyllium seed provides as much fibre as a serving of bran cereal which equals 5g Fiber.
In fact 2 tablespoons of psyllium husk (10 grams of fiber) is equivalent to the fiber content in each of these high fiber foods:
* 1/3 cup wheat bran
* 2 cups rolled oats
* 3 cups whole wheat flour
* 10 apples
* 4 papayas
* 4 pears
* 3 cups soybeans (cooked)
* 2 cups kidney beans (cooked)
* 8 oz. sunflower seeds
* 20 tbsp. chunky peanut butter
* 13 carrots (medium, raw)
* 10 cups corn (yellow, cooked)
* 5 cups green beans (cooked)
* 2.5 cups green peas (cooked)
