QuestionAfter I had my first child 6 years ago I went on Weight Watchers and lost all of
my "baby fat" with no problem. After my second child the weight did not
come off. At this same time I went on Lexapro and was up to 60 mg daily. I
did not know that Lexapro can hinder weight loss. 2 weeks ago I switched
from Lexapro to Wellbutrin to help with weight loss. Also, since September I
have been working with a personal trainer 3x a week for 45 minute sessions.
I also walk from 1-3 miles every day. In September I weighed 165. I now
weigh 175. My face looks weird to me also....when I look at pictures of
myself, my face looks very puffy as if I drink a lot or something and I do not
drink alcohol. But I do not feel sluggish or extra tired. My husband is very
concerned because he says it seems like I don't eat very much yet my weight
keeps creeping up week after week. I agree that it is puzzling. I'm just
wondering if you have any advice as to what else I could do or why I might be
having such a hard time even with some drastic changes that I've made. I am
35 years old and 5'2. I currently take Wellbutrin and have asthma so I also
take Flovent and Albuterol.
AnswerHi Mary-Ellen,
I'll say it out front: you do not need the Wellbutrin, and it is highly likely the cause of what you mention.
Medicine is never a way to become healthy-it is a paradox!
Without knowing your daily eating and drinking habits it is difficult to say where to start. I am also surprised, that any personal trainer worth his/her salt, would allow you to continue with the wellbutrin in the first place!
Your first stop is definitely your eating habits. If you can let me know an average day, or simply go to my site below and fill in the survey I will be able to help much more.
All the best
