QuestionI am a 15 yr. old girl and I weigh roughly 160lbs. I would really like to loose 40lbs and be able to wear a bikini to the beach and not be ashamed. I do not like to eat a lot of super healthy foods, but I don't eat tons of junk food either. I am active...I run cross country and play softball...but the weight just won't come off. How do I go about losing the rest of my weight and becoming that skinny girl I want to be?
AnswerDear Dakota, You are very active, so losing weight should be a breeze provided you exercise daily and eat approximately 1500-1800 calories per day. Keep a food journal and write down everything you eat and drink. Figure out the calories and add them up. Most labels have the calorie count on them, or there are free calorie counters on the web you can use. You will have to do at least 30 minutes of walking per day, the more exercise you do, the faster the weight will be lost. Healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, lean meats, chicken, fish, eggs, whole grain cereals, low fat dairy, salads, etc, have less calories, so you can eat more. Fast foods, pizza, fried foods have more calories, so you have to eat less to get that 1500-1800 calories per day. It's your choice to choose healthy low calorie foods and eat more, or choose fattening foods and eat less. Some foods are easily stored as fat like pasta, cookies, crackers, bagels, white bread, fruit juice, so stay away from those starchy carb foods while you are losing weight. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
