QuestionI'm 17 years old, 5"1', a little more than 100 lbs. I want to lose 5-15 lbs. Actually, I want to lose body fat. My mother insists on buying me size 4 pants and I have to keep low or I'll bulge over the waistline.
I get 2-4 hrs. of moderate exercise a day. I also do about 20min. of strength training most days. I'm thinking about eating 1400 calories a day to lose the weight. Is that too litte? Should I eat 1500? Would eating this little kill me?
AnswerDear Tiffany,
You are already at a below normal weight for your height, so I have to encourage you not to lose any more weight. I also suggest you stop exercising so excessively and you start eating at least 2000 calories or more per day to make up for that exercise. You should be under the care of a physician or a counselor and a dietician if you do not realize that you are under weight. Hope that helps, and I hope you see a doctor about your weight loss ideas.
