Questionhi
i'm 17, just under 7 stone and about 5ft 1in. i think i am underweight, and i find it really hard to gain weight. in the last month or so i feel even skinnier than normal, although according to the scales my weight hasn't dropped. my hip bones especially seem to be sticking out more, and i'm very paranoid about my arms and wrists, a lot of people have commented on how thin they are. some have even asked me if i'm anorexic, which i'm not. i really want to gain weight, but it seems like eating lots of high calorie food won't help me achieve my goal. my boyfriend says he isn't troubled by my weight, and that helps to some extent but it still really bothers me. i'm scared to go to a doctor because some years ago one of my cousins was underweight and had to stay in hospital. i don't want to have to do that!
AnswerDear Elly, You are underweight, you should weigh about 105 pounds to 107 pounds at 5ft 1 inch. To gain weight try foods that are high in carbs mixed with fat like ice cream, cheesecake, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti with meatballs, omelets with toast, bagels and cream cheese, pancakes with syrup, cookies, crackers (you get the idea. Try to eat at least 3000 calories per day, and do not exercise excessively. You should see a doctor to have your blood tested and for a general exam. There are medical reasons for being underweight, so get a check-up. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
