QuestionI work out regularly, I'm a bit over weight still since I quit smoking and was wondering about sport protein drinks. I sometimes do not feel as good as I should after working out several days in a row and was think about some type of sports drink but I'm a little concerned. I'm a 46 year old male with mild hypertension any suggestions..
Thanks..
AnswerHi Tom,
The discussion about protein shakes, energy drinks, sports and meal replacement bars is going on for a long time but there's no conclusive results in it. For one thing, it all depends on the major source of energy your body runs on. If you are on a low carb diet, you need to carb up for your exercise. Essential fats are what they're called - essential for energy. Protein is needed for muscle growth but not always will it help you to feel energized immediately though it will fill you up quite well comparing with carb-rich meals. So, I suggest that you read more about it:
