QuestionHi, about 5 months ago i started a diet(below) and it worked, I lost 35 lb's in about 6 weeks, While i was on my diet, I ran about 35-50 minutes daily.
When I had lost my 35 lb's I kept at it and noticed that when I weighed and measured I was staying the same so I figured I was at a plateau and kept at it, about 2 months of this passed and I stayed at the same weight so I double my cardio (i was running about 4-5 miles a day) and eating a little less. After about a week of this new program I noticed that i lost some weight but its seem like every time I take a weekend off from running I gain every ounce back. I'm fully aware of water weight and things like that, its not water weight and i'm getting worried that if i stop dieting i'm going to gain everything i've worked hard to lose. Did i lose this weight to fast or something?
my diet was
breakfast - oatmeal
lunch - vegetables, chicken or eggbeaters, brown rice
dinner vegetables, chicken or eggbeaters
So i guess my questions are:
Did i lose my 35 lb's to quickly?
Should I start a different diet?
Can i stop running so much and still lose weight somehow?
also, before i went on my diet losing 35 lb's i had lost about 65 lb's from playing football so i went from about 290 to 225 to 185-190. I'm 18 years old and i'm a male, thanks.
AnswerHi John,
Plateau is a usual thing and yes, you are right: it's more usual after that quick weight loss.
At a glance, you might benefit from cutting down on carbs (oatmeal), eat less lean protein (chicken), and adding good fats (fish, oils, nuts, avocados). This alone, even if you keep eating all you want, would create a calorie deficit of about 300 Cal. a day.
If you need a systematic day-by-day plan, take a look at our free program http://bantadiet.com -- you'll be able to access the weight loss plateau tool there.
