QuestionHi my daughter is 13 years old and is really getting in to gymnastics and hoping to try out for competitive. She wants to loose about 10 pounds to make gymnastics a little easier for her, so how can i help her loose this weight safely, easily and as quickly as possible. She only does gymnastics once a week for an hour and a half since it is the winter and often times cold she goes for walks occasionally with our dog in the summer she plays soccer she is also currently playing basketball on her school team just to give yo an idea of her activity level. I think she is also very self concious about her thighs is there any way we can loose that fat on her thighs to make them smaller? Thank you for you advice
AnswerDear Danielle, If your daughter is indeed overweight (you don't mention a height and weight) then she should increase her activity to include at least 30 minutes of walking everyday. Her eating plan should include food from all the food groups and should average about 1500-1800 calories per day. Her thighs may be muscular, so that's not something that can just go away, nor can you spot reduce fat in any one area. Daily walking will tone the legs making them appear smaller, while a calorie reduction eating plan will help her to lose overall weight. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
