QuestionI've recently been tracking my food intake by using an online journal (www.thedailyplate.com). It takes into account your age, height, weight, and daily activity and depending on what you select as your weight loss goal it calculates how many calories you should consume in a day. Right now my calories are set at 1440. Most days I stay under this and have between 1350 and 1400 calories. Occasionally I will go over this an have 1600-1700 cals. However, I'll go to the gym for 3 hours and after I log my workout it will show my net calories as 1100. Should I be keeping my total calories under what they recommend or should my net calories be the ones I should be worried about keeping under the limit in order to lose weight. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question!
AnswerHi Brooke,
Counting calories is a waste of time, diet diaries counter productive. Focus on the quality of what you eat and the quantity takes care of itself as your metabolism changes with stresses, muscle mass, and much more.
Nobody - No Body is too fat from eating too much fresh produce and whole grains, etc. but from eating too much empty food that keeps you hungry and keeps you eating.
Diet sodas make you eat, and the more Diet this or Lo-Fat that products crowding the shelves, the fatter folks get. Flavored Packing Material, not real food.
