Cocoa - fat content

Question
Hello,
My husband is on a low fat diet due to hugh cholesterol. We would like to know of the 11% of fat that is mentioned on the label of our cocoa packet is considered a good fat or a bad fat? I have found good recipes for low fat cookies but my husband is loath to eat the low fat brownies because of the listed fat content in cocoa powder.
Thanks

Answer
Hello Estelle!

Thank you for your nutrition question. The fat in cocoa is considered saturated fat that does not raise cholesterol so hubby should not worry. It usually has a "neutral" effect or even "improves" cholesterol levels according to many studies such as the one by the university of Athens medical center. In fact, you can read all about the health benefits cocoa powdeer in my newest book "The Lighter Side of Dark Chocolate: Take it to Heart" available at www.planetyorgos.com or your favorite bookstore. Keep those questions coming!
