Question Hi George, I am a 39 year old male I am 6'3 and weigh 250lbs recently at
work my job has changed a bit requiring me to walk quite allot
generally 15 minutes out of each hour. I bought a pedometer and to my suprise
I am walking 8-10 miles per shift 5 nites a week which explained why my
weight dropped from 260 to 250 I want to keep losing! so I want to get
a handle on how many calories I should be having per day to continue
losing weight. I am a retired Kickboxer and I have also started training
again(not for competition) doing Bagwork, shadowboxing lite
weights/high reps all the things I did while I was fighting except sparring and
running really, I do this 4x per week I would like to get back into the
220's ultimately so that coupled with all the walking How many calories
should I take in per day to reach that goal thank you for taking my
question!
AnswerHello Mike!
A pedometer is an excellent weigh to help people lose weight. In order to lose 1-2lbs weekly your calorie intake should be around 2000 calorie daily. In order to lose weight healthfully you should cut back about 500 calories daily. This means 500 x 7= 3,500 calories in a week. This is equal to one pound weekly. Remember that gradual weight loss is usually permanent while quick weight loss comes back with interest.
It sounds like you have an excellent exercise program going to help you reach your goal. I would also add a whole food nutrition supplement from www.juiceblend.com It is made from raw fruits and vegetables and would fit in perfectly with your health lifestyle.
