QuestionI'm 15 and I weigh 90kg and I'm only 5'3! I am going to Japan next march and I would like to get down to a healthy weight by then at least! I lack the motivation and I don't really know what I'm doing so I was wondering if you could help?

AnswerDear Amanda, To lose weight, you will have to change some habits. To change some habits you will have to be motivated. If you lack the motivation to lose weight, it's going to be hard to change.
So first, write down your goals for the coming year. Everyday when you wake up, ask yourself what am I going to do today to help reach my goal? What am I going to eat today? What exercise am I going to do? Then you just make yourself do it.
Follow a healthy eating plan containing about 1500-1800 calories per day (read labels), and exercise everyday for at least 30 minutes. Walking is fine, but if you can lift weights, too, that would help increase your metabolism and you might lose weight quicker. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
