Questionhi I抦 genny I抦 17 and up until about four or five years ago i was very underweight i started to gain wait though and now i feel very unhappy with my body. for the past month or so i have stopped drinking all soda, eating most bread, or eating any kind of junk food or candy. i eat mostly apples almonds sun flower seeds nuts and raisins. for dinner i eat grilled chicken mostly or shrimp or fish once and a while i eat pasta ushly rice pasta and sometime i eat tomato soup the only unhealthy thing i know i eat is a cup on honey nut cheerios in the morning and i make sure its only a cup. this is a big improvement from what i eat and i have lost a little bit of wait. i am now around 124 but i still do not feel happy with my body wait and i know i have been lighter and been the same height but I抦 stuck. i go to very study intensive college prep school and do not really have a lot of time to work out but i do when i can. strangely enough the times i do work i don抰 seem to lose that much wait but when I抦 completely study focused and just don抰 work out at all sometime i do seem to be losing wait then. I抦 really confused and getting a bit depress seeing as summer is coming please
AnswerDear Genny,
First of all, you have to realize that you are asking about two uncompatible things. Eating healthy usually means reaching a healthy body weight. On the other hand, even at 124 lbs you feel overweight, right? Meanwhile, 124 lbs is not enough even for a 5'11" person.
You might want to figure out whether your body composition is healthy or not and knowing it, you'll be able to work out a positive attitude toward your body image. BTW, body image is not about just pounds, it's about how those pounds are distributed, what muscle groups are well developed, how good is your posture, how graciously you move, how you manage your stress, etc.
I suggest that you check out your body composition and fitness level at
