QuestionTanya
I have been reducing my carbsas well as calories in an effort to lose weight.
I switched from white bread to multi grain, and cut out the potatoes.I dont like pasta antway.
I just read the label on the multi grain bread-160 calories compared to 80 for the white!
Also,I am missing my small baked potato at supper-it helped fill me up.
Any thoughts?
AnswerGenerally, on a low carb diet, you don't have to watch calories as long as you stay within your daily carb allowances. Within the allowed carb grams, you can eventually indulge in your small potato and whole grain bread if you save on other carb-containing foods.
However, there can be a different approach to planning low carb meals called Fat Burning Index. While on this diet, you can eat practically anything as long as you stick to the proper ratio of carb combined with protein to fat grams. According to this concept, a potato plus a generous serving of sour cream is better than potato alone.
