QuestionI am 27 years old and I use to be in shape (ex-Military). But I don't know what happened. Since October I have put on about 40 pounds. I was only at 115. Now I am at 156. I want to lose this weight. Getting down to 135 I will be satisfied because I do have a history of anerexia. I have a hard time when my husband puts his arm around me and says to me "your getting chunky there" So, at that point I no longer feel attractive to my husband, nor do I feel comfortable with myself. So I would like to get to 135 pounds. Do you have any suggestions? I could use all the help possible. Please remember that I only want to lose about 20 pounds, I don't want to be so thin that you can see all my bones. It's gross... Been there and done it once before. Once I get to my ideal weight I can maintain it. Most of the weight is in my tummy and buttocks.
AnswerBeckie,
We all put weight on over the winter. I put on about 30 extra pounds myself since last summer and I'm working to get rid of it too. You're not alone.
I shared your email with my wife. She agrees that you need to talk to your husband and tell him how you feel... especially if you have a history of eating disorders. I'm sure your husband finds you BEAUTIFUL (as I find my wife, even though she's a little heavy), but he needs to be more thoughtful of his comments.
Aside from that, I would just recommend you eat HEALTHY (don't starve yourself), watch your calories (moderate intake), and get some EXERCISE (cardio & weight training). If you were in the military, you know what you need to do when it comes to exercise.
