QuestionI started riding my bike for the past 3 weeks 7 days a week and I haven't seen any weight loss or any toning in my legs, thighs, or hips.
I biked for about 45 minutes for 5 miles.
What am I doing wrong?
AnswerAva,
That is a great question. And, by the way, I love to ride my bike as well.
From what you've told me, I don't see anything that you're doing wrong, per se.
What I mean by that is that it looks like you're getting a pretty good workout on the bike itself. I don't know if your 5 miles includes any hills or not, but that's pretty good work for your legs.
If you're looking to help the weight loss along, you are going to have to also include strength training in your workout program. Carido alone (which is what you're doing on the bike) is not enough to get the results most of us are looking for. In fact, the strength training will likely help you ride better.
Aim for 2-3 days of strength training for 20-30 minutes.
Also, make sure that your body is properly fueled. No skipping meals and avoid consuming too much sugar and artificial ingredients in your foods.
By combining strength training and a proper diet with your bike riding, you should see results in a few weeks. Remember, though, that we don't get to choose where we see the results (our bodies will determine that for us). Just know that as you improve your overall health and well-being that you will experience the rewards.
Good luck!
