QuestionRichard, I'm writing to you because I feel like I have SO much weight to lose that it seems impossible. But...you have lost far more weight than I need to use.
I'm a 59-year-old male with a small frame, but I weigh about 240 pounds. A weight of about 165-170 was the best for me. Until I was 25 years of age, I never weighed more than 125. After almost dying from a deep depression 20 years ago, I still take anti-depressant medications. Those tend to cause craving of carbohydrates.
I've gained about 15 of these pounds in the past several months. I'm experiencing very little stress...YEAH!...but I'm not exercising and eating right regularly. I also went through a divorce 4 months ago after 30 years of marriage. I'm doing well emotionally.
After struggling with very high stress for the past 20 years, I recently moved to a small country in Central America.
Because of physical problems with my knees and feet, I can't run any more. I can and do walk on hills surrounding the small town where I live.
I have no access to weights and strength-training machines in my little town. I do have several exercise cables of various strengths that I brought with me from the U.S. I can do many exercise with them. And I have a good book on bodyweight exercises. Based on your research and experience, do you have good info on how effective the exercises cables and bodyweight exercises can be to build muscle and burn calories?
Thank you.
AnswerCables and body-weight exercises are a great start. Just look at Marines! Keep your calories eaten lower than your calories burned, eat healthy foods, and get some exercise... and you'll be fine!
