QuestionHi,
I have a question in regards to a diet that I have been trying to do for about the past month and a half. On this particular diet, I've cut my calories back to 1200 a day, with only 300 of those calories coming from fat. I also walk around 3 times a week, ranging from 3 to 5 miles in an hour. When I started the diet, I weighed 112 (I'm only 5'0"). Yesterday, however, I stepped on the scale and it read 120! How have I managed to gain 8lbs on a diet? Do you have any tips or advice on better approaches or perhaps ways to fix this diet?
Thanks so much!
AnswerHi Hannah,
Been there, done that, decades ago, and I thought I must have been walking to donut shops in my sleep.
People suddenly eat less, move more, thinking calorie counting rules are written in stone. What happens is the metabolism drops, ESP. if you are going around hungry.
Eat early, eat smart, focus on the quality of what you eat and the quantity tends to take care of itself.
Also, salt content can retain water, and I am 5'10" and used to gain 8 pounds before a period.
