QuestionHi, i am 17 years old and just started taking the fat burner hydroxycut hardcore. I was wondering if it could be bad for me in some way because it says not intended for people under 18. I am kinda worried about it and just wanted to clear things up. If you can help that would be great. thank you
AnswerHi Elliot
You're probably asking the wrong person this question because (and let me say this up front so that you know where I'm coming from) I'm against putting anything into my body that has the potential for harm in any way. So while I think there is a place for supplement and pill help for chronic conditions, I personally, would never willingly take something merely to enhance how my body looks. And I certainly have been around the block long enough to know that all these products make incredible claims often with very little evidence to back them up. There are countless examples of this.
Just look up the word Ephedra (for example on the web).... a while ago it was all the rage.... fantastic results yadda, yadda, yadda.... really? Now, a few years down the track it's been withdrawn because now we've discovered it's not the so-called miracle cure the manufacturers all touted... in fact it's hugey harmful to the body.
You don't have to look far to see a long list of apparently magical pills (even those that have been approved by the over-worked and under-funded FDA) which have later been withdrawn because while they may claim to help x,y and z... they often land up causing a,b and c.
But especially at 17, your body is still changing and forming which for me would give it a double no. Before you get too much into body-sculpting or muscle-building (which I'm assuming is why you would be taking it), please read up on Bigorexia: http://www.ditch-diets-live-light.com/bigorexia.html
Kind regards Cari
