QuestionHello! I am male, 23 years old, 5'11, and weigh nearly 400 lbs. After roughly three weeks of going to the gym three days a week and paying a tiny bit of attention to my food intake, I've lost 13 pounds and feel better both in terms of physical health and self-esteem. For a short while I struggled with a lack of immediate improvement, but I'm learning more and more of what realistic improvement I should expect as I go.
So far, I plan to experiment with a food journal and maybe see a personal trainer for tips on what I should be doing to maximize weight loss and physical improvement. My short-term goal is to set up a steady exercise/eating schedule and make it a part of my routine.
9 of the 13 pounds I've lost have been in the last week, and I expect that I will lose weight a bit more dramatically for the next few weeks as I alter my diet due to how much I currently weigh.
My question is actually two: What foods should I try and include in my diet to help lose weight, and how quickly can I lose weight without potentially harming my health?
AnswerHello Joshua!
Thank you for your nutrition question. Congratulations on your recent weight loss. In order to lose weight in a healthy manner we should not lose more then 2 lbs weekly. The reason is that people who lose weight too fast tend to put it back in the long run.
I would recommend a couple of different weight loss progams that can help you with your weight loss goals.
The first is called "Bioslim" which is a fiber drink that you take before lunch and dinner. It helps you absorb less calories from meals and has helped many peoplewith their weight loss goals.
The other is a program called "Take Shape for Life" which is meal replacements that come right to your door. The program allows you to lose weight by choosing from over 60 nutritionally balanced Medifast Meals ?shakes, bars, drinks, oatmeals, chili, soups, pudding, scrambled eggs and more.
