Cholesterol in foods versus cholesterol in blood

Question
I've been advised to cut down on crustacea (shrimp, prawns) to reduce my blood cholesterol, does it make sense?

Answer
Dear Debbie,

Let's take the prawns. In 4 oz, there is less than 1g of fat and very little of saturated fat, which is the fat that raises cholesterol levels in the body -- not the cholesterol in any food.

Eating foods containing cholesterol makes the body to slow down its own cholesterol production. Keep it in your mind that prawns, like all seafood, are rich in omega 3 fatty acids promoting cardio-vascular health.
