QuestionWhat should I have to eat in my breakfast in order to get most nutritions and to become intelligent as I am studing. Also what would be the best for launch and dinner. I am 20 years of age.
AnswerDear Faizan
Thanks for your question. I apologize for not getting back to you yesterday. I wasn't at my computer.
Apart from getting enough exercise and making sure that you get enough sleep, you are on the right track when you ask questions about what you should eat. So many students rely on junk foods and these simply don't have the right nutrients to help us to make the most of study time.
When it comes to breakfast, make sure you get some low-fat protein and keep sugar to a minimum. You can look at yogurt, cheese, milk, eggs, nuts, peanut butter, seeds or grains. Don't eat only carbohydrates for breakfast, as this may make you lethargic and tired. Also, don't forget to drink enough water. This is extremely important, as you can't concentrate if you are dehydrated. You may also want to limit your intake of coffee.
As for other meals, here is a list of some brain foods you may want to include in your diet:
1. Fish for Omega-3 fatty acids. These really boost brain power and help with energy, learning and memory.
2. All kinds of colorful fruits and veggies - the richer the colors, the better the nutrients! Try juicing for health as well to get even better access to nutrients. You can read lots of free articles about this at my site http://www.best-juicing.com Make sure that you get enough of the green veggies as well. Your brain loves to get the goodness from broccoli, spinach, lettuce, sprouts, etc.
3. Nuts are very good for your brain, but don't go overboard as they are high in calories.
4. Grains and seeds are also important, such as sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, wheat germ and bran. Even popcorn can be really good for you!
5. Try to eat a variety of beans and pulses.
6. All the berries are very good, including strawberries, blackberries and raspberries.
7. Eat some curry!
8. Eggs are high in B-vitamins, essential fatty acids and choline.
9. Low-fat dairy products.
10. Make sure you get enough iron to improve your concentration powers. Red meat and liver can help here.
11. Ask your pharmacist about using Gingko Biloba. This supplement may help by stimulating blood flow to the brain.
12. Don't forget a treat now and then! A square or two of dark chocolate can be beneficial and may boost blood flow to the brain.
I wish you well in your studies. I am sure you will take great care of yourself and get good grades!
