QuestionQUESTION: I lost 10 lbs on the cabbage soup diet this last week and want to do it again next month. The soup is a little hard to take sometimes, I varied it with yogurt on the skim milk day which I was surprised to find was very good. I was wondering if it would make a difference if I blended it all up and just drank it. I don't like veggie soup much but do love V8 so I was just thinkin'... Also do you have any suggestions on changing it up, like can I drink skim milk more than just that one day, is there anything you can "cheat" with during the week like fat free yogurt to kill your sweet touth?
ANSWER: Barbara,
Cheating can be good on any diet because it helps to avoid the sens of deprivation. However, you might want to make it clearer for yourself how this or that particular diet works to choose the best and most harmless way of cheating.
In your case, you might want to experiment but keep it in your mind that you'll find yourself on a completely different diet because one of the most important things about the cabbage soup diet is the meal bulk created by lots of fiber in the recipe. Diary is lacking this. What's more, diary and vegetables are two completely different food groups so you cant take one instead of another and expect same results.
As to the V8, it also lacks fibers comparing with real vegetables.

QUESTION: To clarify the question, what I was asking was would it be the same to drink the soup, put it in the blender and liquify it not to drink V8 instead. I was curious if it mattered whether it was in liquid form or solid. On the yogurt matter, also to clarify, I added it to the soup not ate it instead of the soup. I have read alot on this diet but couldn't find the answer to the drinking vs eating it question. Thank you for the websites I'm sure I will find them helpful. Barbara
AnswerI see. Blended foods yield more absorbable calories, ounce for ounce so you might get more calories than with the original recipe.
Also, blended food require less calories to digest since you don't chew, theoretically, you can miss this point but since on the cabbage soup diet you are not supposed to count calories, just go ahead, try it :)
