Muscle weight gain?

Question
Hello there.
I am 15 year old, 5'3" , 110 pounds. I tried High intensity interval training (HIIT) last week, twice, for the first time. I have also been exercising ( running, walking, skipping, cycling ) every alternate day. It seems that I keep gaining weight- everyday. In total, I gained 2 kg. Is this muscle weight? How do I stop this? Should I stop exercising for a while? This is really worrying me- as I have previously lost 7 kg over a year with extreme hard work. I don't want to gain it all back again. I am eating rather little to moderately - not excessively. But I find myself gaining weight . What should I do and what is wrong? Please help. Thanks.

Answer
Dear Nat, Working your muscles like you are doing will cause the muscles to retain some fluid and rebuild themselves a little stronger. Your weight gain is probably just water weight. At your age accept the fact that your body is still growing and maturing and that all weight gain will not be fat. You will gain weight as you mature. On average one inch of growth is equal to 5-7 pounds. Keep track of what you eat and try to eat the same foods you did to lose the weight originally. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
