QuestionOk, i'm about to ask a question i'm sure i'm not the only one who wants a answer for...What do you guys (Pros) mean by, "No carbs after Lunch???" I mean everything has carbs right? I like a shaved plain turkey sandwich with whole grain bread a couple hours before bed. Is this ok?
AnswerDear Bryan, Carbohydrates are one of the three essential nutrients and not all foods have carbohydrates in them. The other essential nutrients are protein and fat. When it says no carbs after lunch, that means eat foods that contain protein and fat like chicken, fish, lean meats, turkey, and such. Eating no carbs after lunch is a very restricted type of diet, and one that is hard to follow.
A turkey sandwich has about 20-30 grams of carbs, so it's not a no-carb food. If your goal is to lose weight, a low carb diet is the way to go, but hard to follow if you like bread. Atkins.com has information on their low carb plan. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
