QuestionLaura
In researching the causes of my own current obesity which I have suffered from since late childhood,I have a theory that coffee might be the culprit.<http://www.medindia.net/news/view_news_main.asp?x=4742>.
I didnt eat any more than my friends and got lots of exercise, but my mother, who was a bit strange, used to give me coffee and tea.The other kids though it was strange back then (early 60's) but I developed a taste for caffiene and now have 7 to 10 cups of caffee and tea a day.
People are drinking more coffee these days, and at a younger age- my elementary school age daughters go to the mall for coffee.
Besides inactivity and fat laden junk food, I think coffe is another reason for childhood obesity.
AnswerDear Bud. Interesting theory. I think the key is sugar drinks mixed with caffeine, not just caffeine drinks. Sugar raises blood sugar levels, increased blood sugar levels increase insulin production, insulin causes excess calories to be stored as fat. Caffeine just makes that all happen faster. Get rid of the sugar, and you break that cycle. Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
