QuestionSince I was in high school I rarely had a diet that consisted of more then 1500 calories a day. Since i've been in college I probably eat around 1200-1300 on a good day. It is hard for me to eat more then that, some days I come in with a whopping 1000 calories. I know it's bad but I am busy, and don't have much time. The thing is, I don't get tired, have lots of energy, don't get headaches, and now I've started working out 5 days a week with 60 minutes of cardio a day. I am trying to lose some fat, but I'm reading all these articles that say I should be eating more, and that I shouldn't reduce my calories so low. The problem is I didn't reduce them I just don't eat a lot. I've never had a problem with it, so now i'm worrying that my body will go into this starvation mode. I really don't starve myself, I eat when i'm hungry. I just don't get hungry every three hours like most people. Can I stay where I am calorie wise or do I have to eat more?
AnswerHi Tara,
You did not mention what you weigh, you are just talking fat, and the math doesn't add up. Maybe you are fine, maybe you are not calculating calories correctly or maybe you are moving toward an eating disorder.
Here is a chart:
