QuestionHi, Susan I have a couple of questions about food.
1, what is non-refined sugar? I mean what kind sugar is good to use for cooking and food preparation. I use dried fruit to add the sweet flavor in food, but sometimes you do need sugar for some cooking.
2 You emphasize raw, not roasted nuts. Will roasting destroy the goodness of nuts and seeds. I find home roasted nuts and seeds taste better.
3 Could you please tell me how much protein a 4-year-old need? What about an adult?
4 I use organic stoneground wholemeal flour. The nutrition table shows that every 100g flour contains 11g protein. Do you think the food cooked by this flour combined with some vegetables is a good balanced option or the protein might be too low?
Thank you in advance.
AnswerHi Yan,
1. stevia - no diseases, addictions OR calories
Read package of dried fruit - you want NO added sugar or chemicals.
2. roasted peanuts are ok as not a true nut but a legume
Roasting nuts tends to kill some of the goodies in them, and sure, roasted nuts taste great - so you empty the bag at one sitting. Doesn't happen with walnuts.
3. Figure the equivalent of once a day, one piece of meat the size of one's palm - hand not including fingers.
4. There are amino acids in most foods. You make your own proteins. Most complete is brown rice and red/black beans type of combination.
The recent high protein diet fad (it happens every 30 years) did a lot of kidney damage. Eating too much protein can be harmful.
