QuestionHi, my name is Nathan. I'm 18 years old and will start exercising in the gym very soon. I weight ~125 pounds and I'm 5 feet 5 inches tall. I would like to know about what types of foods I should be eating to give me strength and energy.

Number one calories, there is nothing more anabolic then a calorie, by the way start TODAY not soon on the training.
Other then that dont go to crazy you dont need to and shouldnt get to complicated you will make great progress and better if you dont seat it and just work hard and EAT!!!!!!! try and get a good amount of protein, meat, fish, poultry, eggs milk, add on lots of fruits, veggies, then breads, pasta, potatoes, and even pizza and such, work hard you will build the muscle and strength. Eat lots of good whole food.
