Question I am in a weight loss competition with friends and the stakes are high- winner gets money losers wear spandex. I would like to lose 20lbs by memorial day. I am doing everything the healthy way. I am working out 5-6 days a week combining running, biking, tennis and weight lifting (although probably not enough). I also eat a healthy diet of protein, fruits and veggies. My question is, how do I lose an average of 2 lbs per week. And more importantly, what should I do in the week before the last weigh in with my workouts and diet.I think the competition may come down to a pound or two so those last days will be important. Do I do double workouts and then cut my diet. On the last day do I get up early and workout or will I retain too much water from that? I am very concerned about that last week or two.
Also, if you have any tips on what I should do when my weight loss starts to plateau next month, because I know that it will, that would be helpful. This competition is for bragging rights! Thanks for any input, I really don't want to wear spandex.
Lisa
P.S. I am very small boned so I know that my body can handle 122lbs.
AnswerHi Lisa,
How ironic that you are in a WLC (weight loss challenge) as that is what we are doing around the world with our programme. Ours is a 12 week challenge with prize money to the top 3 losers.
the way we ensure great results is to educate each week on a different topic, like protein/water/carbs/exercise etc.
As long as you are consistent then there should be no worrying about the last two weeks. You can't suddenly retain water.
Most of our competitors lose about 2-5lbs per week, so as long as you follow the plan, you will be on target.
Trying to do sudden bursts will not make a difference, as it is the time between workouts when your body recovers, repairs and burns the fat.
Weight loss plateau could be sine that you need more protein in your diet.
And finally, spandex is considered sexy by some!!!
All the best
