QuestionHello.I tend to eat A LOT at nighttime. It is when I am most active, so when I get most hungy. I heard that this is very bad for you and I wanted to know if that is true. Also if you know of a way for me to stop doing this or atleast minimize it. I have an eating disorder (bulimia) and usually the night time urges lead to binges and purging so it is very bad for me. I heard from someone that there is a B vitamin you can take that makes your cravings decrease I do not know if that is true though. So if you could help at all that would be wonderfuL!
Thank you so much,
-Karen
AnswerKaren,
Generally speaking calories are calories and it doesn't actually matter what time you eat them, if they are properly balanced with activity- HOWEVER- night time eating tends to be driven by boredom or emotions, which is never a good thing and in your particular case leads you to a destructive cycle that isn't good for you regardless of calories.
Having a B vitamin deficiency could cause cravings, but taking a supplement won't stop cravings unless you are actually low on B vitamins. Your best bet is to find something to do, preferably something that involves your body and mind working together. Yoga is good, though painting, knitting, or other artistic endeavor would be good too.
Hope this helps,
