QuestionI'm 17, 5'4'', and weigh about 135 pounds. Up until last year I had been very active and healthy, and averaged out at about 125 pounds. Lately I've been getting less exercise though, and I obviously paid the price, but I've been getting back into a regular exercise routine: running or swimming everyday, doing crunches and other muscle builders for my legs, abs, and arms. Unfortunately I'm still a bit flabby around my tummy and butt. My questions are about how you would suggest I tone those areas, and about my diet- how many calories should I be eating to lose these 10 pounds or so? And what foods would you recommend I definitely eat regularly?
AnswerDear Alison, I think by just increasing your exercise like you are doing, the last 10 pounds should be burned within 1-2 months. Your crunches will tone your abdominals and your running will tone your behind area. You can speed the weight loss by eating 1500-1800 calories per day. Choose lower carb foods like chicken, fish, lean meat, low fat dairy, whole grain bread, whole fruit, vegetables, and healthy fats. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
