QuestionHi, I am 5' tall and weigh 241pounds,age 39, i started weight watchers 2 weeks ago to lose weight i have a broken foot and can't do much in the way of exercising, i also have gout and high blood pressure both controlled with meds, i also have insulin resistance. so with all that said iam on weight watchers and feel better and the first week i lost 7 pounds but the second week i have gained 2 pounds. i know iam not moving like i should and i did have 2 glasses of wine on 2 days but i counted them in my points, so iam wondering why iam not losing and why iam gaining? its getting frustrating. i have been on weight watchers before and never had this problem even without exercise. can you offer some advice or answers? PLEASE! Thanks.
AnswerI can't tell you why you gained 2 pounds from last week to this one, but I can tell you that you have lost 5 pounds in two weeks and that sounds like success to me!
If this plan works for you, try to think of it from a different perspective--can you LIVE this diet? If you learn to eat this way and don't go "off" the diet after a few weeks, or even after you lose 40 pounds, then you won't be in this situation again, ever !!
Don't worry about your week-to-week numbers. Set your site on what you want to look like in July or next Christmas or one year from now. Keep doing what you know is best and don't focus on what you lose this week (I know it's hard and they encourage you to) but focus instead on how well you are treating your body, how healthy you are eating, and how you are developing lifelong habits that will keep you happy for decades to come!
and, p.s., if you have kids you will be teaching them the most important lesson they will ever learn.
