QuestionHello Tanya.
My name is David and I've been eating healthy and keeping in shape for
several years. I don't eat beef or pork, but I occasionally eat chicken and quite
a bit of carbs. Plus, I exercise seven days a week by jogging for one hour.
About over three weeks ago, I changed my diet. For breakfast, I eat a low-fat
yoplait strawberry yogart with a banana and a glass of orange juice. For
lunch, I have a massive salad consisting of sliced tomatoes, lettuce, brocchoi,
carrots, spinach, and some seasoning to top it off. And for dinner, I eat a big
bowl of fruit salad consisting of sliced banana, apples, grapes, plums,
strawberries, and orange to drown them in, along with a homemade
strawberry milkshake to go with it.
That, coupled with jogging for one hour, seven days a week. I've been
sticking to this new diet for over three weeks and already I've seen the weight
on my face and hips have been reduced. I'm 5'10 and weight 187 pounds. My
girlfriend is planning to come see me in May and I intend to lose at least ten
pounds from now until late May.
My question is, what other kinds of foods and exercises must I do to lose ten
pounds from now until May? Any suggestions?
Best regards,
David
AnswerDavid,
I'd advise to swithch from low fat to low carb foods for at least two reasons:
1. to speed up weight loss, it's good to change your metabolic mode because the body responds to the adaptation period, which is energy consuming by itself.
2. it's especially effective in reducing one's abdominal fat, the most stubborn kind of fat. When it burns out, the rest of the fat stores can be emptied faster, too.
As to the exercises, add high intensity intervals to your jogging routine every other days and on the other days, add weight training.
To help you with the planning, try my Banta plan (it's online and costs you nothing) and read the following articles:
