QuestionHi
I have been thin all my life and when I hit approx. 30, bang!...I developed a 'spare tyre' around my middle. I eat less calories than the recommended max level. I exercise for approx 15 minutes everyday, but just cant shift it. I eat a cereal and fruit juice in the morning, an apple, orange and 25g bag of crisps at 10am, and a main meal at 1pm. This is the last meal I eat in a day and someone suggested that I have went into 'storage mode' where my metabolism has slowed down because I'm skipping an evening meal. Is this true and if so, can I speed up my metabolism by eating more often throughout the day or is it irreversible?
AnswerGary,
Yes, I would suggest that you probably should eat a least a little something in the evening- but it seems to me that it may be WHAT you are eating that is the issue. I see lots of carbs listed, but very little protein. Now, I'm no low carb fanatic, but having an appropriate amount of protein in your diet is important to support your metabolism so you might consider adding some eggs or beans or meat to what you are eating throughout the day.
Hope this helps,
