Question
Hello
i have a question regarding AB workouts.. i have just started doing AB exercise around 15 days ago...I ONLY train my abs, for now at least...what i do is

-20 reps in 4 sets ...bicycle exercise (one count is when i do both side..
-60 reps in 3 sets...reverse crunch
-60 reps in 3 sets...long arm crunch with weights (5 kg..for now)...i can only do this exercise with weights..

this takes me an hour..i do this 5 times a week...sometimes i follow with pull ups sets..

my goal is, that i reach a very strong visible 6 abs in the next 2 month ( i have started 15 days ago)..and before you say anything, i know that for a 6 abs to show, there should be no fat around the belly, and thankfully, i dont have any...

so my questions are..

1--will this routine get me to my goal (in 2 month)..provided that i increase the reps and the weight as i go...

2-- I heard that for the exercises to impact the abs, i have to let the abs recover for 5 days between exercise..is this true..keep in mind that i do this routine 5 times a week...?

3- are the excersices in the routine, their order and the reps, enough to give me a good workout to reach my goal in 2 months..

4- regarding nutrition, i only eat 3 meals a day and never eat outside them.. i try to eat in each of them carbs, fruits, proteins, and veggies....i eat several hours before the routine, and right after it, i eat mainly proteins..how much protein should i be taking after the routine, and is there preference in type of protein, like from chicken, meat, milk, or plant proteins,,,

thanks any help is greatly appreciated..

Answer
I don't know why people train their abs different from other muscle groups. You wouldn't do 60 reps X 3 sets of barbell curls, would you?

The abs respond to progressive resistance just like other muscles. I would recommend working them with a WEIGHT that you can lift 8 to 12 times (that's all) and do 2 or 3 sets, twice a week.

But you have to do what works for YOU. And yes, "seeing your six pack" has MUCH, MUCH more to do with the amount of visible body fat than how hard you work your abs. I know people who do almost NO ab work, but have single-digit body fat and nicely defined abs.
