QuestionHello!! I'm Becky and I'm 17 years old and 5 ft 5 in height. I'm a very active person, doing about 7 or 8 ballet and other dance classes a week. I eat relatively healthily but despite all the exercise, i weigh around 9 and a half stone. But i don't look it. I look thinner but the scales say different. i was wondering if it was maybe my muscle weight from ballet that's making the scale weight so high? If so, how can i distinguish the fat weight to muscle weight ratio?
Thanks for your time!

Answer
Formula 1 protein base
Hi Becky,
You've hit the nail on the head!
Ditch the scales and concentrate on bodyfat %. This is accurate in the healthiest way, as it will tell you the ratio of fat to muscle.
To reduce fat to healthy level you concentrate on improving the density of muscle. This will naturally cause the scales to weight more, as muscle weighs more than fat ( 4 times more!).
As long as you do a mix of strength training and flexibilty, your muscles will remain dense yet flexible enough for ballet...and you will get a great tone as well!
In terms of eating, all the results above will only come true if you eat the corect amoiunt of protein daily, and supplement with vitamins/minerals.
Eating healthy does not mean salads and fruit- it means lean protein, fresh veg, plenty of water. Snacks can include fruit/nuts/seeds.
The simplest and best way isto have a protein based shake daily- it's what I've been doing and promoting for years, and all top athletes abide by the same principals.
