QuestionQUESTION: Hello,
So I am trying to lose weight (only about 5lbs) and lately I have been so hungry and craving food that its insane! I work early mornings and bring enough food for breakfast, lunvh and snack...lately in the last 2 weeks I've been eating it all LONG before lunch time hits. I have not changes anything that I can think of...exercise is the same, sleep, social life, stress level...all the same. It isn't that time of the month either, and I have not had cravings in the past like that before.
Its gotten to the point where I literally have to find more food or I feel like I will just go crazy!!
Calorie wise I am eating around 1800 a day, sometimes more if I workout hard that day... I am very worried I am going to put back on the weight I lost! What can I do!? What could the problem be?? I have talked to friends about this and their solution is to just "not eat"! Well thats not really easy to do when your body is screaming for food!!
Please help!
THank you!
ANSWER: Amy-
Well one thing are you really eating 1800 calories, more importantly are you gaining weight?? No need to worry unless you are if your actually that starving then you need the food. What foods are you eating are you limiting grains and others such simple carbs, getting plenty of fat in your diet (likely not and could be the culprit)some fruit and TONS of green veggies, load up on green veggies, protein and fat and you should be able to eat a TON and still stay under the 1800 easy and those food require more energy to burn and are loaded with minerals and nutrients.

QUESTION: Hey,
I believe I am eating 1800 calories...I use sparkpeople.com to track my calories so I think I am around there. I don't really restrict healthy carbs, although I don't eat a lot of protien and can't really think of a healthy fat. The foods I usually crave are sugary foods. I will definatly check out your discussion forum
AnswerI would prob lower the carbs from grain source and sugars and stick to fruits and veggies for the most part, if your going to have the more simple carbs I would have them around your training.
Healthy fats = saturated fat, mono and poly unsaturated fats, any fat but trans fat your body needs them just to be healthy let alone optimal and lose weight. There are at least three essential fatty acids you MUST eat to get and be healthy and at least 6 essential amino acids (protein) but there are NO essential carbohydrates. Healthy fats, fatty fish. fish oils ( you should take 5-10 grams a day)eggs, dairy, lean meats, butter, nuts, seeds, olive oil are all very good sources of healthy fats.
If you get those things and eat enough you should not have cravings for sugar if your eating enough and staying hydrated, If you are get some sugar free jello and have it its zero calorie and sweet, add some heavy whipping cream and or fruit and its even better.
get your protein up as well
