Hi, I wonder if I can rely on (( Dates )) carbs instead of complex carbs? I'm following a diet of 40% Protein - 40% Carbs - 20% Fat, I workout cardio 30-60 mins 6 days a week, and train with weights 3 days a week. I'm 5.6" tall male - 149lbs and aiming for 132lbs. As you know, "dates" contain fiber, and have no fat, and I have other sources of vitamins more than what I get from complex carb foods like oats and whole grains.
Please help. Thanks.

Hi MJ,

Once a day, have the equivalent of a piece of meat the size of your palm. (Your hand not including your fingers. Gross vision maybe, but we our discussing flesh food, aren't we?). Don't have the whole grains with the protein, but have them with other meals and snacks. That is what your body can use and excess protein stuff causes kidney damage, etc.

Eat all the raw fresh fruit, dried fruit that is not sweetened or sulphured, that you want. Eat all the raw or slightly cooked non-starchy vegetables you want.

Lots of plain water, no sodas, fruit juice drinks, or other dirtied water. (I have a little black coffee a.m. and a craft beer in the eve.)

Think of getting what your body can use - the closer to nature the better. Water treatment plants have plenty of pills that no body ever managed to break down.

Resistance training more than once a week is old school. It takes a very few minutes to wear out each of 6 muscle groups, one at a time, once a week. It is a non-stop ritual, no boring reps and rests. Think in terms of muscle being formed when you are not working them. You basically lift the most weight as you can and hold it for 10-30 seconds. The rate of increase in the amount you can lift can be stunning compared to old school. I did reps and rest stuff with a personal trainer and had no progress after 3 months.
