QuestionHi. I am 17 years old and a senior in high school. I have played a lot of sports in high school and am just playing softball now. I'm pretty athletic, but when I have breaks like summer or even when I weight lift I gain more weight than I want to. For example, by the end of my sports season I was my perfect weight which is 130. However, after my season I got up to 138-140 pounds. I am at the edge of being overweight now and I feel gross. I have less energy and I make poor food choices. I've tried a couple of times to be healthier (good food/exercise) and I actually got to 135 pounds, but now I'm falling again. Is there a schedule that I can use to help me get back on track? I really need this new start.
Thanks for your time. I hope this is enough info for you.
AnswerDear Shaunee, I wish I had a magic pep talk to make you lose weight but you said it yourself "I make poor food choices". Think back and try to remember what you ate and the exercises you did when your weight was acceptable. This is what works for you. What you are eating now, does not work for you and is too much for your body to burn off, you are storing extra food as fat. You have to increase your exercise to burn off that excess, while watching what you eat. Try to eat 1500-1800 calories per day. Read all labels and keep track, it's not hard to do. Next; walk, ride a bike, or jog for at least 30 minutes everyday. Thirty minutes twice a day would be even better. Start this week. You still have three weeks before school starts, you could lose up to 9 pounds by then. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
