I'm trying to gain weight and build muscle through weight lifting. I'm joining a gym to develop my muscles.
A couple years ago a dermatologist prescribed some protein capsules for me, saying my hair was prematurely graying because I lacked protein.
I gave them up because they were expensive and at that time I wasn抰 concerned about building muscle.
Which would you say is better to take to gain weight and build muscle and just for your overall health: protein capsules or protein drinks? What are the side effects of both? which would be safer to take?
AnswerI am not familiar with the protein capsules, but if your diet is low in protein, the powders can be a good choice. Some people experience gastro-intestinal distress because of the powders, especially if they are lactose intolerant and are using a whey or casein based protein.
