If you want to know what fruit is best for you, there is no right answer. All fruits and veg give you different proportions of vitamins and minerals that you body needs. That is why you should have a varied amount of fresh veg and different fruits to snack on.

but i am on a very small limited pension, hence my question, i eat fruit every day, but can not afford to buy as much as i would love to

It's a question that cannot be answered.
I could say that apples are best as they have the highest fibre, or oranges for the calcium, or berries for their anti-oxidant properties.
It really does not matter, and 1 piece of fruit a day is not really going to make any difference to health, so choose whatever you want based on price.
I would still say, that you should look at what you are eating as your breakfast/luch dinner as that is where the benfots will be felt.
Fruit should be used as a snack, and nothing more. It's vegetables that should be eaten in large amounts every day, as these provide way more nutrition for the body than occasional fruit.
