QuestionSo I have a program that will calculate nutritional information for recipes I enter. I've been tracking my food intake for months and I usually have no trouble finding nutritional data for the food I enter. However, I'm stuck on whole chicken that is cut up and then cooked (without skin) along with rice and veggies. I have a recipe that calls for a 3 lb. whole chicken (bone-in). So now I go to the nutritional database that has 300 different chicken entries.
1. The various entries specify meat eaten, skin on, etc., but I don't know if the bones are calculated in the weight if I use the "raw" weight. Clearly raw seems to be the best option since I'm not going to be able to remove the chicken from the rest of the dish after cooking to weigh it. And I'm just not that nuts about this--I just want to be accurate.
2. I don't see an entry for whole chicken. I see all the various parts. Is it "meat eaten?"
Maybe I am overthinking but it's kind of driving me crazy.
Thanks!
Meghan
Answerif your insistent on weighing the food then just debone the chicken and use the meat weight. there should be an option for just chicken (dark and light)
In think you are over thinking / over stressing a bit Meghan
