QuestionI'm 12, with a height of 160cm, and a weight of 44.2kg. I actually weighed 45.5kg in June, and was 158cm tall. In these few monthes, I upped my exercise amount quite alot, swimming about 200m extra weekly, playing more badminton. My diet did not change. Is this normal? I heard that muscle should weigh more than fat and I am stronger than most girls my age. In fact, I am also stronger than some boys in my class. I really wonder what happened.
AnswerDear Shu Hui, You are still growing, therefore your weight should increase due to bones and muscle mass growing. You are considered under weight for your height. A 12 year old who is 160 cm, should weigh on average 55 to 60 kg. What is normal for you, should be decided by your doctor who can compare your height and growth curves since birth. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
